Workers who organize across their industry or around one urgent issue have the power to improve their conditions. Justice at Work supports groups of workers taking collective action and organizing workplace justice campaigns.
Justice at Work provides ongoing counsel to workers in New England’s seafood processing industry, residential construction workers combatting wage theft in Boston, and injured workers fighting to access health and safety rights. Our support includes:
Justice at Work has partnered with three worker centers to envision and implement worker committees. We provide ongoing legal support and general strategy to those committees. We are available to help worker centers draft membership agreements and provide templates and trainings to organizers seeking to form worker-led committees.
Our staff conduct research on employers, employment relationships, and contracting chains. We are available to assist our partners research and develop tactics and models useful to workplace justice and industry organizing campaigns, such as industry codes of conduct and good and bad actor lists.
Justice at Work helps draft and edit communications by workers, such as demand letters, and offers training on taking direct action and protecting workers while doing so.
Our staff are on call to support worker centers and workers facing retaliation for asserting their rights. This includes direct counsel and defense of workers involved in ongoing labor disputes and liaison with immigration attorneys and government agencies that have the expertise and power to protect targeted employees.
